Staying safe in public WhatsApp groups

Public groups are visible to anyone with the link, so treat them like a public square.

• Your phone number is visible to other members — consider your privacy settings.
• Be sceptical of messages offering guaranteed profits, giveaways or urgent requests for money.
• Do not click unknown links or install apps shared by strangers.
• Use WhatsApp's built-in block and report tools, and tell us about problem listings.
